Tomekia Luckett Soulshine Series

This is my friend, colleague, and mentor Tomekia Luckett, MSN, RN. I met Tomekia when we were both in the Masters program at William Carey. Immediately, I knew I had made a friend for life. I was drawn to her spirit and personality. Tomekia is one of the most knowledgeable and understanding nursing educators I know. Her approach in the classroom has a way of reaching every student and I have modeled my teaching methods after her instruction many times. Here is a glimpse into the world of my friend, Tomekia:

Tomekia Yvette Luckett,  the daughter of Chester Luckett and the late Mollie Knox,  is blessed and highly favored of the Lord! She is the mother of 17 year-old triplet sons Tamerrious, Tamerrion, and Tamerrick. She grew up in a single parent household in the White Acres housing project located in McComb, MS. Through firsthand experience, she is aware of the power of prayer.

Tomekia graduated from Southwest MS Community College in 2001 and obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing.  She later returned to school in November 2010 where she pursued a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Nursing at William Carey University. She is an active member of her church and a full-time student at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she is pursuing a PhD in Nursing Leadership. She anticipates finishing her doctoral study during the Winter 2016 semester.   She thoroughly enjoys her career as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at William Carey University.  She lives by the motto, “ with God all things are possible”.

Please join me in thanking Tomekia for “being the light” and for adding to the world of nursing!
